Celebrating Lebanese Heritage Month

info0525350

November marks the beginning of Lebanese Heritage Month in Canada! We proudly recognize the rich contributions of the Lebanese community to Canadian culture, and the significant impact they have made to our economy, politics, arts, and social fabric.

The Lebanese community can trace their origins in Canada to 1882, when the first Lebanese Immigrants came to Canada. During the Lebanese Civil War (1975-1990), emigration to Canada from Lebanon increased. This year in particular is a difficult time for the Lebanese community, as more than a million people are estimated to be displaced for their homes due to conflict in and around Lebanon.

Throughout this month and beyond, we stand in solidarity with Lebanese people and continue to  recognize  their strength, resilience, and diversity. We also take this month as an opportunity to learn more about Lebanese culture, and our Lebanese neighbors. The OTLC wishes the Lebanese community a happy Lebanese Heritage Month!
