Our hearts are with everyone who has been impacted by the ongoing wildfires and evacuation orders across British Columbia. We know this is an incredibly stressful and uncertain time for individuals, families, and communities.

If you are a tenant whose housing has been affected by a wildfire or other natural disaster, you may have questions about your rights and responsibilities. Every situation is different, but there may be legal options available depending on your circumstances.

The Okanagan Thompson Legal Clinic (OTLC) is here to help eligible individuals understand tenancy issues related to natural disasters, including questions about rental agreements, habitability, and other tenancy concerns.

If you have been evacuated or your rental housing has been affected, please reach out to us to see if we can assist.

Please stay safe, follow evacuation orders, and take care of yourselves and your loved ones.
